for some reason, whenever i am with the land, i have this wierd urge to become a native and just wander around talking to myself about the earth and all its stories.

I could wander around Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada for a long time and never be bored. To also quote John Muir:

I must try that one at work! That wonderful quote is right up there with the classic "I'd rather be sailing." - although personally I'd rather be wandering in the Yosemite meadows and pine forests and gazing at the mountinas.
